Well since I started my Hostboard life here I wanted to make the offer to be one of the first forums to be moved. Currently the 3 test boards that have been moved are functioning extremely well. There are only 2 things to note.
1. Domain is different (pwrhouse.com). But the link to this forum will remain as read only with a single post with a link to the new board.
2. domain will change again back to Hostboard.com once I can get everybody moved.
All this does is make my life easier in that the more forums I can move now the less down time involved later on when we do officialy make the change over and I have hundreds to do.
The new system can be viewed at www.pwrhouse.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
All user IDs should be working so feel free to look around.

what about the archived information? will this be migrated also? It's one of the most important aspects of this forum.
Why UBB, out of curiousity? VBulletin is so much better.

PHP? Sure, its a great scripting language, but from a users perspective, it shouldn't matter whats on the backend.. in fact, it should be transparent.

PHP? Laff and here I was waiting for MySQL and I was going to tell you we already have another test board already running UBB under this and will be porting the databases soon
The Hostboard server actually runs an apache compression utility already and testing showed PHP not to be much more efficient then what we already have. The database backend though was a factor when we loaded up the system.
HB2 took 2 months to develop almost working on it daily. We have a dedicated developer for fixes/enhancements as well as a database developer. Basicaly this means HB will not remain stagnent but continue to be developed. The core code is UBB but almost everythings else about it has changed.
Of course I did not mention another new dedicated server in the works did I?!?! Laff...

Not meant as a serious comment. Of course there's no reason why differences in the internals of the back-end shouldn't be transparent. I just like PHP. It's elegant. When we looked at VBulletin and UBB a while back we chose VBulletin because it was faster and because we preferred working with PHP over Perl. It's all good though.
Thanks for providing this space to hang out!
